Download NZB with iPhone [GUIDE]

Files required SABnzbd for OSX, Cheetah and Cyberduck. The following guide requires you to modify SABnzbd's source file, or else you can download this modified source file and skip step 3 to 5.

1 ) Jail break your phone

2 ) Install OpenSSH and Python via Cydia

3 ) Unmount SABnzbd.dmg and drag source file ( src.tar.gz ) onto desktop

4 ) Unzip and open up the above source file. Double click on CherryPy-2.3.0.zip to unzip the file. Leave it as it is.

5 ) Under Cheetah, rename folder called "src" to "Cheetah" and drag it into SABnzbd's source folder. End result should look like this ->

6 ) Now, SFTP into your iphone using Cyberduck. Drag your modified SABnzbd source folder into /private/var. Rename the folder to sabnzbd for easy referencing.

7 ) SSH your phone via terminal and type in the following command:

8 ) Fire up mobilesafari and navigate to: localhost:8080/sabnzbd

HI. I've had limited success with this. I notice that there is a later version available (0.4.12). However I'm a windows user and had to make do with the modified source when I installed the last version.

Would some kind soul be able to modify the source to the latest version as I'd like to give this a whirl.

Forget it. I managed to do it.

I downloaded the mac os source code opened the tarball with winrar and copied the cheetah and cherrypy folders from the modified code as found in this thread into the program folder. It was then just a case of following the rest of the steps as before.

Hey presto! I now have v0.4.12

@J9T2B
Yes it works at 4.1 on iPhone 4. Just had it installed using latest Cheetah(2.2.1) and Sabnzbd(0.5.6) sources.

Note: Python can be installed by installing PyObjc in Cydia.

Installed newest version easily enough, but can't for the life of me figure out how to download an nzb to send to it.
Safari download program installed, but it doesn't like .nzbs. Downloaded the zip version of nzb and opened with iFile but i can't get it sent to SABnzbd.

Searched all over google, everyone seems to get sab working, but has no idea how to send nzbs to it.

Anyone here any ideas ?

Cheers.

To start an NZB download just copy the url to the .nzb file and paste it into the 'Add NZB URL' field withing SABnzbd (add nzb > fetch). This is the only way I can see as Mobile Safari doesn't allow file uploads.

Anyone tried using myNZB to control their local iPhone sabnzbd install?

Unknown said...

I sorta got this working. But it won't extract my dl's. I'm getting this error...

Unpacking failed, [Errno 86] Bad CPU type in executable

Unknown said...

I got unpacking to work. I copied the unrar from my /usr/bin to the /sabnzbd/osx/unrar folder. Not sure if anyone else out there had this same problem.

Here’s the modified file for Sabnzbd 0.4.2

Now I'm gonna try it with Sabnzbd 0.7.4
